Disability Access
Ashwell Medical Centre is committed to ensuring that all patients, including those with disabilities or reduced mobility, are able to access our services safely, comfortably, and without unnecessary difficulty. We aim to provide an inclusive, supportive environment and to make reasonable adjustments wherever required to accommodate individual needs.
Accessibility of the Building
Our premises have been designed to promote ease of access for all. The building offers level access throughout, enabling patients who use wheelchairs, mobility aids, or who have difficulty with steps to move around the centre safely and independently. Entrance points, corridors, and clinical areas are arranged to allow adequate space for mobility equipment and to minimise barriers to movement.
Wheelchair Availability
For patients who may require additional support during their visit, we provide a wheelchair available on-site. This can be used for appointments or to assist with movement around the building. Patients who need to use the wheelchair are encouraged to speak to a member of our reception team, who will be pleased to assist.
Support During Appointments
If you have a disability, mobility challenge, sensory impairment, learning disability, or any additional requirement that may affect your visit, please inform a member of staff. This enables us to make any necessary preparations to support your needs, including extended appointment times, assistance with movement, or alternative communication methods.
Accessible Facilities
The medical centre includes accessible toilet facilities, designed to the appropriate standards, with sufficient space and support features to aid safe use. Signage throughout the building is clear and designed to support visibility and understanding for all patients.
Communication and Additional Needs
If you require communication support such as large print materials, assistance with form completion, or help understanding medical information please inform the reception team. We are committed to ensuring effective communication and equitable access to information for all patients.
Commitment to Continuous Improvement
Ashwell Medical Centre regularly reviews it's accessibility practices to ensure compliance with legal requirements and to improve the experience of patients with disabilities. We welcome feedback from patients and carers to help us identify any areas where further improvements can be made.
If you have any questions regarding accessibility, or if you would like to discuss specific needs prior to your visit, please contact the reception team, who will be happy to assist.
